BOOKS The Autumn Writers Exposition Literary festival an awesome By Pollywog Gardenvale
COOKIE ISLAND—The Autumn Writer’s Exposition organized by Jilly Kidd and Hastings Bournemouth, is taking place throughout the month of October at “The Written Word” on Cookie Island. The exhibition showcases the work of over fifty writers and features competitions, music, and readings. Special festivities are planned for Halloween week from Saturday October 27th through Sunday, November 4th. For more information, see the Autumn Writers’Exhibition Guide on display at Cookie Island.  The festivities will be punctuated at beginning and end with fireworks created by one of Second Life’s most talented pyrotechnicians. Scheduled events include original performances by singer-songwriters, musicians, performance poets and fiction writers, plays, and an interview with a published author. Original performances are welcome and encouraged in the weeks leading up to Halloween.
In Second Life, Jilly Kidd is the host of “Meet the Authors” on SLCN TV. The show is broadcast from the Town Center of Cookie Island and airs every other Sunday at 2pm SLT. Past shows can be seen on-demand from the website. In real life, Jilly Kidd is poet Adele Ward, the author of Never-Never Land, a collection of poetry published by Bluechrome Publishing in the United Kingdom. (www.bluechrome.co.uk)   * * *

The Written Word provides a place for writers to display and share their work, and conducts regular meetings, writing circles, and critiques. In addition, ongoing events are held by the INKsters, a popular writing group that runs a seaside cafe and bistro on the island.
