SAGGITARIUS — In a ceremony that was as beautiful as it was moving, Bella LaSalle and Arkady Yost were united in virtual matrimony on Saturday, June 23 in the Wedding Chapel of The SS Galaxy, Queen of the Sagitarrean Sea.
The couple work together as crew members aboard the SS Galaxy. What began as a friendship between colleagues in the virtual world soon grew into true love in real life.
Just before sundown, friends and family gathered in the ship’s chapel that was tastefully decorated with garlands of red roses, creating a garden-like atmosphere for the festive occasion.
The bride wore a traditionally classic gown with a sweetheart neckline and an exquisitely crocheted and beaded silver lace bodice. Her matching veil of white tulle was crowned with a wreath of white rosebuds that framed her face as she carried a cascade of white roses down the aisle.
Bella was attended by Lacily Georgette, maid of honor, and bridesmaids Kelli Forcella, Pielady Smalls, India Decosta, and Sarasotah Chikuwa.
The best man was ship’s architect Bill Stirling, accompanied by groomsmen Bill Mondegreen, Spike Hartunian, Seaton Skolnick, and MC Swain.
As the ceremony began, a flock of white doves was released in a magnificent display that called to mind the beauty, anticipation, and sense of wonder that is so often experienced when love is new.
Jill Mckenzie, who planned the wedding, conducted a “Rose Ceremony” that began with these words:
In the past, the rose was considered a symbol of love and a single red rose always meant only one thing— it meant the words “I love you.” So it is appropriate that for your first gift— as husband and wife— that gift would be a single rose.
It is easiest to hurt who we most love
It is easiest to be most hurt by who
we most love.
It is then that the rose says what matters most of all and should overpower all other things and all other words.
That rose says the words:
“I still love you.”
The masquerade ball that followed the ceremony featured a live performance by Australian Jazz singer Paisley Beebe and DJ Bill Mondegreen.
Although they are currently oceans and time zones apart, the couple plans to build a real life together. Arkady, who lives in the United States, is making arrangements to join his bride Bella in her homeland of Australia.
Miss LaSalle’s dress and veil were designed by Nicky Ree. The bride’s bouquet, bridesmaid’s flowers, and boutonnieres were provided by Jade Opel Designs, with hair flowers by HoseQueen McLean. The bridesmaids’dresses came from Blaze, with suits, jewelry, and shoes by Ramos Designs.
